Secretary IT reviews JDA Automation and Digitization

Jammu 29 th Dec: Secretary Information Technology, Saugat Biswas today
alongwith the Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Pawan
Rathore reviewed the execution of the “Automation of JDA Project” at Jammu.

The project being executed by the Information Technology Department was
commenced in 2018. The project will provide a seamless online interface
between Jammu Development Authority and citizens. The software solutions
will reduce human interface in recording, processing, storing, retrieval and
management of information for the service operations of JDA. The project will
provide various online e-services like application for building permission,
allotment of notified assets, registration/transfer/ mortgage possession/ of
property, permission to sub-let/ renew lease of property, addition and deletion
of name in lease deed/ grant of no dues/ online RTI/ online payments etc.
besides various backend online services for the internal working of Jammu
Development Authority. The project will also digitize all files and records of the
JDA and make JDA a paperless organization.

In addition to reviewing the development of various online modules
constituting the Automation Project the Secretary had a detailed review of the
digitization of files of the Jammu Development Authority. Secretary Biswas
informed that under the project about 25,000 files having a total of estimated
18 lac pages will be digitized and integrated with a Data Management
Software (DMS) tailor made for the JDA. The DMS will integrate with the e-
office software being developed for the JDA. Secretary Information
Technology, had a detailed check of the various quality control stages in the
digitization process issued strict directions to the vendors and JDA
supervisors executing the project to adhere to the quality control protocols.
Biswas informed that this one of the pioneering professional digitization
project being undertaken in J&K, and will soon be followed by larger
digitization projects in the Government.

The project will automate the processes of JDA with electronic service
delivery thereby reducing cost and at the same time making it more
accessible to the public. VC, JDA, Pawan Rathore informed that the project
will be path breaking in terms of providing online day to day JDA related
citizen services from the comfort of their homes and also simplify the
processes of JDA. Secretary – IT issued directions to the project management
team of JaKeGA to strictly adhere to the timelines and ensure high quality
digitization of existing records. The project is targetted to complete in four
months added Biswas.

The meeting was attended by officers of IT Department, Jammu and Kashmir
e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA), and Jammu Development Authority (JDA)
and the agencies involved with implementation of the project.
