SRINAGAR : Troops have resumed a search operation this morning for a soldier who went missing after a patrol party of four Army personnel came under avalanche in the frontier district of Kupwara.
So far the bodies of Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), a soldier and a civilian porter have been recovered, official sources said, adding one soldier, also feared dead, is still missing.
The Army Avalanche Rescue Teams located at the Nasta Chun Pass immediately launched a search and rescue operation for the personnel buried under the avalanche in the Shamasbari range in Kupwara, they said.
A soldier, rescued in an injured condition, was shifted to a hospital and the bodies of a JCO, a soldier and a porter have also been recovered.
The operation was suspended late in the night because of extreme bad weather and darkness, they said, adding with the first
light today, rescue operation for a soldier has been again resumed.
The entire range experienced heavy snowfall recently. (UNI)
