This has reference to the news item ‘JMC seals building without parking’ DE Dec 9.
It is need of the time that all those buildings which do not have parking slots, and are run for commercial purposes be sealed at once. The mushrooming of malls and shopping complex along roads is one of the main reasons of traffic jams in twin capitals of the State.
One fails to understands why the Municipalities at all give permission to these complexes in the beginning. The authorities should ensure before granting permission whether a building has enough parking space, and has completed other formalities. The city is expanding day and night, it can not sustain increasing pressure on its limited infrastructure. The city dwellers are under strain in view of these circumstances. They need to be provided some sort of relief by way of freedom from traffic jams etc.
Recently, the High Court also ordered the closure of all those shopping complexes or malls which do not have parking lots.
The Municipality should launch a drive in this connection and seal the buildings sans parking lots.
