SDP urges Govt to settle migrants’ problems

JAMMU, Sept 9: Socialist Democratic Party (SDP) has urged the Government to solve the problems of displaced Pandits without further delay.
Talking to reporters here today the SDP general secretary Ajay Sharma said a memorandum in this regard was also submitted by the president of the organization, Dr Darakshan Andrabi to Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh recently which urged him to settle the long pending demands of the community in exile.
The SDP termed the curtailment of power supply to migrant quarters as a suppressive measure. Mr Sharma urged the Government to refrain from such tactics and take cognizance of the sufferings of displaced people who were forced to flee from the Valley by the terrorists and no one came to their rescue.
He demanded that the enhancement of cash relief demand of migrants be settled without further delay. He urged the displaced Pandits to fight unitedly for their demands and assured full support to them in their ongoing agitation.
SDP state youth president Gursagar Singh and its Migrant Cell representative Bal Krishan Hazare were also present in the press conference.
