SDM Marh holds meetings with local stakeholders for Jhiri Mela

JAMMU, Oct 29: As North India’s biggest mela wherein more than 15 lakh people are expected to visit is going to start from 7th November, SDM Marh Rajeev Khajuria, who is Mela officer also, conducted marathon meetings with local pujaris, mahants, prominent citizens, PRI members & all other local stakeholders for smooth and successful conduct of this year’s mela.
The SDM maintained that no function of this much magnitude can be successful without the active involvement and cooperation of local stakeholders and advised all of them to receive lakhs of devotees visiting from inside and outside the country with love and respect as they all come out of devotion and faith for their revered deities Bua Kodi and Baba Jitto Mal who sacrificed their lives for the cause of justice to peasant community.
“This mela also boosts the local economy of the area and attracts tourists visiting Mata Vaishno Devi and Shiv Khori shines from all over the country,” Khaujria said and disclosed that this time special arrangements have been made from administration side to ensure smooth, secure and satisfactory conduct of mela and soul touching experiences for pilgrims as ‘laser show’ on lives of Mata Vaishno Devi and Baba Jitto Mal will be organized.
He said big LED displays on Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav from Central Bureau of Information, cultural programs, wrestling competitions, Dogra Pagri wearing competition & departmental stalls shall be main attractions of this year’s mela.
After the meeting, a Swachhta Abhiyaan was also organized in the Jhiri Shrine area in which SDM and all local stakeholders participated.
