SD Singh bats for promoting young cricketers to represent India, IPL teams

JAMMU, Apr 17: Lavishing praise for J&K Sports Promoters Club for providing opportunity to the young cricketers to hone their skill by organizing a series of tournaments, IGP Jammu, SD Singh Jamwal advocated for promoting budding cricketers to represent the Country at the highest level and the IPL teams as well.
Mr Jamwal said this while addressing a large gathering of cricketers and sports enthusiasts as a chief guest on the valedictory function of the 5th Baisakhi Cricket Premier League, organized by J&K Sports Promoters Club in collaboration with District Police Jammu at Parade Ground, here today.
He further said that the State Police is always ready to help the J&K Sports Promoters Club for their sports events which are being organized regularly on special occasions for the youths of the state. He also advised the J&K Sports Promoters Club to conduct quality cricket events regularly for the youths to prepare them for bigger events.
Ranjeet Kalra, Member BCCI and Vice Chairman Sports Council, Jammu and Joginder Singh, SSP PCR were the guests of honour.
The objective of the League was to promote communal harmony and brotherhood among the masses and the slogan of the league was “Lets’ celebrate Baisakhi together through T20 Sport”.
The sponsor of the League was Shukeel Gupta & Co.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill, Former Ranji Trophy Player and Coordinator of the event presented welcome address and highlighted the achievements of J&K Sports Promoters Club.
He also informed that 84 sports events in different sports disciplines had been organized by the Club and the events included tourneys for Orphan Children, Physically Challenged, Slum cricketers, underprivileged cricketers and girls.
Earlier, in the final match, KC Sports Club defeated Road Safety XI by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Road Safety XI scored 155 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Naseer top scored with 65 runs, while Rompy Sharma contributed 20 runs and Bobby chipped in with 17 runs to the total.
For KC Sports Club, Vivek took 3 wickets, while Abhishant and Yudhveer bagged 2 wickets each. Aman and Rohan Koul shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, KC Sports Club achieved the target in 16.1 overs for the loss of 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Suryansh Raina sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt and played a power-packed innings of 58 runs off just 17 balls, while Ateev Saini contributed valuable 34 runs and skipper Arjun Choudhary chipped in with brisk 18 runs.
From Road Safety XI, RK Bhat took 2 wickets, while Rompy and Zubair claimed 1 wicket each.
Suransh Raina was declared as the man of the final, Abdul Samad of J&K Sports Promoters Club and Vivek of KC Sports Club were adjudged as best batsmen and best bowler, while Yasir of Road Safety XI was declared as man of the Series.
The match was officiated by Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Sandeep Manchanda, Sanjay, Rajeev and Vinod.
Later-on, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed trophies and other prizes to the winners and runners-up teams in presence of Joginder Singh SSP PCR; Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Jammu Sports Council; RK Bhat SSP; Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer; Rajesh Dhar, Senior Journalist and Chairman Media Committee JKCA; Sudhir Singh, BCCI Level-1 Umpire; Vijay Sabarwal, President Parade Sports Association and Mohan Lal Chouhan, President Friends Cricket Club.
