SCW Jammu files charge-sheet against man for Rs 11.5 lakh fraud

JAMMU, May 20: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) Jammu has filed a charge-sheet against an individual for his involvement in a case of cheating and fraud involving Rs 11.50 lakh.
According to SSP SCW Jammu, Sanjay Parihar, the accused Gagandeep Singh of Upper Gadi Garh took Rs 11.50 lakh from a complainant, promising to arrange a work permit abroad for the complainant’s son. However, he neither fulfilled the promise nor returned the money.
During the investigation, it was found that the accused had issued five post-dated cheques for the said amount, but all were dishonoured due to insufficient funds, said the SSP SCW Jammu.
“This caused a financial loss to the complainant and wrongful gain to the accused,” he further said.
According to him, the case was registered under FIR number 17/2023 at Police Station, Special Crime Wing Jammu, under Section 420 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), which deals with cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
Pertinently, Inspector Tariq Hussain led the investigation under the supervision of SSP Sanjay Parihar, with police submitting the charge-sheet before the Sub-Judge Jammu today after confirming that the accused had deliberately cheated the victim.
