JAMMU, Nov 13: Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson and former vice-chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while discussing the media related matters with the SC Morcha vice-president and media incharge Krishan Kumar Digra, Morcha chief spokesperson, M.L. Rao and spokesperson Ashok Gandhi at party Headquarter, Trikuta Nagar today said that the anti-SC approach of Congress and NC needs to be exposed as lakhs of members of this community were the worst sufferers during the regimes of these parties.
Balbir said that SC reservation was not implemented in the erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir till 1970, till the people of this community united, agitated and went on hunger strike. A prominent leader from SC community sacrificed his life during his hunger strike for grant of reservation in jobs and professional institutions. Not only this, the SCs were deprived of scholarship benefits for decades.
It was the same NC and Congress whose Governments had been demanding fresh category certificates after every 15 years, which was not in practice in any other part of the country, Balbir said.
The spokesperson regretted that the SCs were required to obtain a category certificate from the same authority on one proforma for State jobs, while there was different proforma of similar certificate for the purpose of availing benefit in Central Government jobs.
Krishan Kumar Digra said with the abrogation of Articles-370 and 35A, a ray of hope is seen by the people of this class and wounds of 70 years will be healed and justice done with the sufferers by fulfilment of Constitutional requirements.
Dr. M.L. Rao and Ashok Gandhi also expressed their concern over the anti-SC approach of two parties and made a fervent appeal to the community not to trust the NC and Congress anymore and devote time in educating the large population of SCs about the injustice done to them for decades together.
