JAMMU, July 23: BJP former State spokesperson and presently J&K Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited, Vice Chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, today said that the social and economic status of the SCs in the country have improved a lot during the last over three years after taking over of BJP Government at the Centre and formation of BJP coalition in Jammu & Kashmir.
He was addressing a large gathering of the members of Scheduled Caste community and office bearers of Jammu district BJP Anusuchit Jaati Morcha in a programme held at Party Headquarter, here today.
The programme was organised to convey gratitude to the BJP High Command and the Prime Minister for giving an opportunity to Ramnath Kovind to get elected as the President of Republic of India.
Balbir said that the Narendra Modi – led Government has launched a number of welfare schemes for the benefit of the Scheduled Castes with an objective of their economic empowerment in particular and the results have been very encouraging. He said the SCs are progressing and assuming very high positions due to their capabilities and they are second to none in talent and intellect now. He also shared various schemes of the Corporation meant for SCs, STs, BCs, Minorities, disabled persons and Safai Karamcharis.
BJP Jammu district president Baldev Singh Billawaria, spoke on the people- centric, development-centric programmes and policies of the Government at the Centre and in the State and their concern for the weaker sections, including SCs , STs, BCs.
District general secretary Vinay Gupta, on this occasion, said that the capabilities among the SCs need to be further explored and recognized, which can contribute in nation building.
Anusuchit Jaati Morcha district president, Hardesh Khokar, in his address, said that the election of Ramnath Kovind to the highest post of the country is testimony that SCs can scale any heights.
Over two dozen SCs also joined the party on this occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Morcha district general secretary Manohar Lal.
SC Morcha leaders Faqir Chand, Shiv Lal Manyal, Seema Devi, Jagdish Raj Tufani, Gouri Shankar also addressed the gathering.
