Scribe writes book on Dogri poet Madhukar

JAMMU, Apr 28: The Sahitya Akademi, National Institution of Indian Literature has published a book in English on the prominent Dogri poet Kehri Singh Madhukar’s life and literary works.
This book, authored by veteran journalist O.P. Sharma, who has been actively associated with Daily Excelsior, will open a new window to Madhukar’s Dogri poetry to English readership.
The Sahitya Akademi had commissioned Mr Sharma to write a Monograph in the series of “Makers of Indian Literature” on famous Dogri poet Kehri Singh Madhukar.
Kehri Singh Madhukar has made a significant contribution to Dogri literature and holds place of pride among literary luminaries of Jammu and Kashmir. Many new aspects of his life and poetry have been explored and highlighted for the first time in English.
The poet Madhukar (November 28, 1930 – August 24, 2000) is recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award in 1977 and his Dogri poetic compositions have high literary merit and are very popular.
The institution of Sahitya Akademi , New Delhi is playing pivotal role in establishing the writers of different national and regional languages through publication of their writings.
The new book published by the Sahitya Akademi has been printed finely, it is priced at Rs 50 only and can be had from the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
The author Mr Sharma, a son of the soil, is a veteran journalist who often writes on various topics particularly literary, cultural, social and historical as also many others matters.
