SRINAGAR, May 10: The three -day Science Academies’ Lecture Workshop on “Himalayan Biodiversity and Bio-resources: Mapping, Utilization and Conservation” concluded at the Department of Botany, University of Kashmir here today.
In addition to some participants from other countries like Bangladesh, more than 130 participants from across the Valley including young faculty members from various departments of the University, colleges and higher secondary schools took active part in the workshop deliberations which continued for three days.
Besides a scientific stocktaking of Himalayan biodiversity, a number of topics related to mapping and bio-prospecting of the Himalayan biodiversity were threadbarely discussed followed by some demonstrations.
Deliberations were thoroughly made on harnessing bioresource potential of biodiversity and possible convergence of emerging technologies for their best possible use in the Himalayan biodiversity conservation and management.
