Schools in Srinagar to reopen from Feb 20: CEO

Srinagar, Feb 9: Schools in district Srinagar have been ordered to reopen from February 20 for the implementation and monitoring of COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
According to an order issued by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar here, the schools shall remain open for the implementation and monitoring of activities specified from February-20 to be followed during the reopening of schools.
The order stated that the preparations made in this context by High and Higher Secondary Schools shall be monitored by District Level Committees.
It said that the preparation for the implementation of SOPs shall start from February-12 and monitoring of the same shall start soon after.
“Heads of all government and private schools shall conduct meetings with their respective staff members to discuss and frame modalities regarding preparation for the opening of schools for the implementation of SOP’s issued by the government,” the order reads.
The order adds that the Zonal Education officers (ZEO’s) in Srinagar district shall conduct similar meetings with the Head of Institutions (HOI’s) of elementary schools of their respective zones.
“Arrange for thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all areas, furniture, equipment, stationery, storage places, water tanks, kitchens, canteen, washrooms, laboratories, libraries.”
The CEO also said in the order that there is a need to ensure that working handwashing facilities, availability of key supplies like thermometers, disinfectants and soaps is available in the schools.
