Schools in K’taka to reopen from Jan 31

BENGALURU, Jan 29:
Karnataka Government on Saturday announced reopening of schools for all classes and colleges, beginning January 31. The decision was taken during a meeting with the Technical Advisory Committee on Covid.
“It was decided to reopen schools and colleges, taking into account the dipping numbers in Covid cases in the state,” Education Minister BC Nagesh told reporters.
However, Government departments should ensure proper implementation of special operation procedures, he said. Schools for Classes 1 to 9 were shut in the state after a Covid review meeting held on January 4 for two weeks and was later extended.
If someone tests positive in a class, that particular class will remain shut and every child will undergo tests but the school will function as usual,” Nagesh said.
The Deputy Commissioner concerned will decide how long the class should remain shut, he added. (UNI)
