School girl stabbed in moving vehicle

RAJOURI, May 12: A young girl was stabbed by a youth in a moving vehicle in Rajouri town this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place when 16-year-old Rozia Kouser, daughter of Shamas Din, resident of Trava village (Kotranka), was returning from her school at around 2.30 pm. She is the student of Himalayan Education Mission School, Rajouri.
She was travelling in an auto-rikshaw to reach bus stand and catch bus for the village. A youth sitting in the auto started teasing her and making advances. The school girl resisted and abused the youth. A few other passengers were also travelling in the same auto. The youth got furious and took out a knife and stabbed the girl on face and abdomen and jumped away from the moving vehicle in a filmy style.
The auto-rikshaw driver rushed to the hospital and with the help of other passengers, he got the girl admitted there. They also informed the parents of the girl and local police. The police party led by SHO reached the hospital and recorded the statement of the victim. The accused was later identified as Aamir Manhas (an auto driver), son of Mohd Yaqoob, resident of Jawahar Nagar, Rajouri. The police has started manhunt for the absconding accused. The condition of the girl was serious. She got 15 stitches on face and abdomen. She was being shifted to GMC, Jammu.
