*CEO suspends teacher, Police registers FIR

RAJOURI, Sept 6: A class 10th student committed suicide after she was allegedly harassed and punished by the class teacher in Manjakote area of district Rajouri.
The victim has been identified as Muskan Zakir (16), daughter of Zakir Hussain, resident of village Kotli Kalaban. She was student of class 10th in Govt High School, Galuti in Manjakote.
Official sources said that incident took place on Thursday when the girl had gone outside the class in the school complex when there was no teacher. In between, teacher Mohd Irfan Bhatti came to her class and allegedly did not allow the girl to enter during third period when the girl came back to class. Her bag was also thrown outside the class room as punishment. She was abused and made to stand outside for whole period. Even on his instance, the next teacher of fourth period also did not allow her to enter. The girl kept requesting the teachers and weeping outside the class for over an hour.

Unable to bear the abuses, insult and punishment by the teachers, the girl went home and consumed some poisonous stuff (insecticide) kept for the crops. The girl complained of pain in stomach and then told the whole matter top her mother, Tahira Bagum. Her father Zakir Hussain is also a Govt teacher.
The girl in serious condition was rushed to Manjakote hospital and then to District Hospital, Rajouri in the evening. The doctors washed her stomach and then referred her to GMC Hospital Jammu but she died on the way. Later, her body was removed to District Hospital, Rajouri late evening.
The news of the death of school girl spread in the Manjakote town and also in Rajouri. Chief Education Officer Rajouri, Mohd Ashraf Rather also arrived the hospital and inquired about the matter from parents and other people gathered there. After postmortem the body was handed over to the parents for last rites.
Today, the SHO Manjakote Mazoor Kohli along with police team went to School but the Incharge Headmaster had sent the accused teacher on leave. The students were also not there today in the school. The police registered a case in this connection and started investigation. The CEO placed Teacher Irfan Bhatt under suspension and attached him to his office at Rajouri.
