Srinagar, June 9: Gover-nment today said the total enrolment in Government schools has dropped by 6000 in year 2014-15 but there has been an approximate 2% decrease in the dropout rate.
In a written reply to a question of MLA RS Pathania in Lower House, Minister Incharge School Education stated that as compared to 1,884,344 students enrolled during year 2013 there has been a drop of 6000 enrolment as 1816435 students were enrolled during 2014-15. “In 2013-14, 25.33% students dropped out of schools that have also come down to 23.84% during 2014-15,” he said.
The Minister stated that Government of India approves fixed amount of funds at Rs. 50 lakhs per district annually for establishment of computer aided learning centres in upper primary schools under SSA annual work plan and Budget (AWP&B). Accordingly computer aided learning centres are established subject to the availability of funds, he said.
The Minister further said 132 schools have been covered under Vocational Educational (RAMSA) in J&K so far and in 2016-17, 220 schools have been approved by the MHRD, GoI under Vocational Education. He stated that KGBV schemes do not have any provision for regularisation. However, the matter is under consideration, added the Minister.
