SC warns Subrata Roy Sahara to repay investors

NEW DELHI :  The Supreme Court today warned industrialist Subrata Roy Sahara  that if the cheque  submitted by him was not encashed by June 19, he will again be sent to Tihar jail.
A bench, headed by Justice Dipak Misra, issued the warning while hearing the Sahara SEBI case involving repayment of money to lakhs of investors.
Sahara has submitted three cheques, one of Rs 3,000 crore, another of Rs 1,500 crore and the last of Rs 500 crore.  Subrata Roy Sahara’s lawyer told the three-judge bench that as far as he is concerned, he is here.
The official liquidators had valued the Aamby Valley property and submitted it to the apex court in a sealed cover.
The bench asked Subrata Roy Sahara whether he commits to pay or not. Kapil Sibal, one of the lawyers appearing for Sahara,  told the apex court that the Aamby Valley property was worth Rs 49, 000 crore approximately.  (AGENCIES)
