NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court today recalled its earlier order directing the Italian envoy to India Mr Daniele Mancini not to leave the country without prior permission of the court.
The apex court had passed the restraint order following the announcement of the Italian government not to send the two marines back to India to face trial in two Kerala fisherman killing case.
The Italian government, however, later agreed to send the marines back to India and both the marines returned on March 22 i.E. With the deadline fixed by the apex court to return.
The apex court has earlier granted them permission to go to Italy for four weeks to participate in the general elections in the country on the undertaking given by Mr Mancini on behalf of his government that the two Italian marines will come to back to India latest by March 22.
The two Italian marines were, however, sent back following the assurance given by Indian government that the two marines shall not be hanged.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, Justices Anil R Dave and Vikramjeet Sen has now cleared the decks for Mr Mancini to go wherever he likes.
