JAMMU, Feb 10: SC/ ST / OBC Confederation today held a protest reiterating its demands like restoration of reservation in promotions, clearance of back log vacancies and implementation of 200 point roster instead of 13 point roster, here at Ambedkar Chowk.
A large number of SC/ST/OBC and minority communities under the aegis of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations gathered under the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Ambedkar Chowk Jammu. People from all over the State participated in huge numbers holding flags, placards and banners and held protest.
The speakers alleged that since long they are raising their voice through seminars, sammelans, protest rallies and dharnas for redressal of their long pending demands such as Incorporation of Parliament amendment No 77th, 81st, 82nd and 85th in J&K State, restoration of reservation in promotion, clearance of back log vacancies, implementation of 200 point roster instead of 13 point roster, share in Adhoc/ Contractual/CP Workers/Need Basis/Daily Wagers, reservation to OBCs and deletion of word OSC (Other Social Caste), etc but no heed was paid to their demands.
While addressing the gathering, R K Kalsotra, State president of the Confederation said the previous regime of BJP-PDP rule was the worst period for SC/ST/OBC communities despite the fact there were 7 SC MLA’s from the single party but they did nothing for these communities. It is very disappointing that even during the Governor’s Rule/President’s Rule, nothing has been done as yet despite submission of a number of memorandums of demands.
This non-serious approach of the administration has led to a precarious situation and it has become imperative for 80% population of the State to become united. He said that if the demands of the masses projected by the Confederation are not conceded before implementation of Model Code of Conduct, then all the communities belonging to SC/ST/OBC and minorities should become united and all should come on one platform.
He urged upon all the communities to be ready for struggle in case the demands are not fulfilled by the administration and called for a massive rally at Jammu on March 10.
Choudhary Mushtaq Badgami, vice president of the Confederation, in his addresse, announced that if their demands are not met out, they will hold mass awareness rally at Srinagar on Feb 24 for the success of rally of March 10 at Jammu.
