SC gives nod to hear Babri-Ram Janmabhoomi land row soon

NEW DELHI, July 21: The Supreme Court today agreed to list soon the appeals relating to the dispute over ownership of 2.7 acre Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi land. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy knocked the doors of the apex court seeking an urgent hearing of his petition, which has been tagged with the main dispute.
A bench,  headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and comprising Justice D Y Chandrachud, said, “We are going to list the main matter soon. We will take a decision on it.”
The issue has been pending since 2010 in the Supreme Court after the Allahabad High Court divided the land equally among Ram Lalla, Nirmohi Akhara and Sunni Waqf Board. (UNI)
