SC dismisses AAP’s petition for dissolution of Delhi Assembly

NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) party seeking dissolution of Delhi Assembly to pave way for fresh elections in Delhi. Earlier, the Centre informed the apex court that nothing survived in the petition as the Assembly has already been dissolved and fresh elections are going to be held in the national capital soon.
A five-judge constitution bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu, Justices Chelmaswar, A K Sikri, R K Aggarwal and Arun Mishra disposed off the petition.
On the last date of the hearing while appreciating the efforts of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung for formation of the government, the Court had given time till November 11 to the Narendra Modi Government to take a final call on the fate of Delhi State Assembly.
