JAMMU, Mar 7: Senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney, Ex-MLA Jammu East conducted extensive visit of Aitham Panchayat and Bain Bajalta area along with other senior leaders to meet the people there and inquire about their problems.
The Congress leaders later also held public meeting at Bain Bajalta under mass contact program and also projected public issues. Sawhney said, they have been visiting various places in Jammu to understand the ground situation and the core problems being faced by the public. ” We want to give people a platform to raise their issues,” he said.
Chairman, Sarpanch, Panches, ex-Sarpanch and local people were present at the public meeting at Aitham. They apprised Sawhney and other leaders of the key challenges and issues their area has been grappling with. One of the major issues that came up during discussions was that of road connectivity. They complained that there is a serious problem in the road network connectivity and people have been suffering because of it. Prominent Congress leaders including Varinder Singh Manhas, Vinod Kohli and others accompanied Sawhney.
Ex-MLA said that people raised several issues. They said that their area has zero road connectivity and as a result they face many other problems. Road network is considered to be one of the keys to regional development of a region. The backwardness is hampering any scope of growth and development in the region. There are many other problems that people are facing at the grassroots level that have also been brought to our notice during our interaction with the locals.
Sawhney further stated that the feedback received from the public too on the performance of the ruling party is largely negative. They complain that their issues have been neglected in the past few years and those in power did not once come to help or fix the problems that needed fixing. He stressed that the interactive sessions held with the public have been illuminating in the sense that the leaders have been able to dig out the problems that need immediate assistance.
He said due to no elected government in J&K, many issues have been ignored. The common people suffer as there is no one to hear their concerns. The Congress party recognises that the people want development and work, however, these needs are not being fulfilled right now, Sawhney regretted.
