Sat reviews functioning of JMC, lays stress on timely completion of projects

JAMMU, May 5: Minister for Housing and Urban Development Sat Paul Sharma today reviewed the functioning of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
During the meeting, Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation informed the Minister about functioning of different sections of Corporation.
While reviewing projects being undertaken by JMC under AMRUT and SBM, the Housing Minister stressed for time bound completion of work. He also stressed for maintaining quality of works and also directed for preparation of drainage network plan so that problem of drainage can be resolved to the large extent.
While reviewing project of  Intelligent Traffic Light System, Sat Sharma emphasized for its time bound completion as this project will help to decongest the city. He also impressed upon for early completion of Urban Transport Projects.
The Minister focused on development of lanes/drains, parks, green spaces and added that 2 parks in each constituency shall be developed by JMC wherein open gym and play station for children shall also be installed.  He instructed for development of Rehri Vending Zones so that vendors can be accommodated which will also help to decongest the city.
He laid stress on paying special attention towards Swacch Bharat Mission and directed for achieving the target of construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) by June 2018.
The Minister also asked for preparing welfare plan for SKCs so that due care could be given to them. He also appreciated the initiatives taken by JMC for beautification of city and stressed for continuing such efforts, as this will help to face lifting of the city.
Neeraj Gupta, Chief Accounts Officer, Sunaina Sharma, Secretary, Kushal Chand, Joint Commissioner (W), all Executive Engineers along with AEEs of JMC and UEED, Health Officer along with Sanitation Officers were also present.
