POONCH, May 13: Sat Sharma, president, J&K BJP, led a party delegation comprising of senior party leaders, visited the shelling-affected areas of Surankote to take stock of the damages caused due to the inappropriate shelling by Pakistan. BJP leaders interacted with the shopkeepers, and general public at Surankote market of district Poonch.
Sat Sharma also chaired meetings with the BJP workers and the prominent people to discuss the on-going situation in the area at Dak Bungalow Surankote and BJP district office Poonch.
Later, the BJP leaders visited the home of twin children Zoya and Ayan who were martyred in Pakistan shelling in Chaktru village of district Poonch and paid tribute to them and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Click here to watch video
J&K BJP general secretary and MLA, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, general secretary, Vibodh Gupta, former MLC, Pardeep Sharma, former MLC, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, district president, Gurdeep Singh Khalsa, Abdul Ghani, Rajinder Gupta, and district and Mandal office bearers were also present during the tour to meet the affected people.
While addressing the meetings, Sat Sharma condemned Pakistan for targeting densely populated civilian areas, resulting in the tragic loss of 15 lives in the Poonch district. He said that after the Pahalgam massacre, PM Modi had assured that every sacrifice would be avenged. Soon after, the Indian forces destroyed the terrorists’ camps in Pakistan and PoJK.
Sharma said that PM Modi has clearly indicated that Pakistan has to shun the path of terrorism before resuming any talks of water or trade with India. PM Modi has also called to all the people to have faith in the Indian forces and the Indian Government, he said.
The people demanded increased security measures, construction of bunkers, compensations to the families of martyrs and affected people and to declare Surankote as a border area.
While listening to their demands, Sat Sharma assured that the security of the people is the primary concern of the Modi Government and that all their genuine demands will be addressed in the best interest of the area.
Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal expressed solidarity with the affected people. He said that the Indian forces have shown the ability to attack and destroy the terrorists’ camps located at any place within the enemy territory.
Vibodh Gupta said that the Modi Government and the UT administration are ensuring the prompt relief and rehabilitation to the affected.
