Kishtwar, June 22: Vice Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party and former Minister, Ghulam Mohd Saroori has urged the J&K UT Government to clear pending Liabailities in Kishtwar district.
Saroori toured Tatani and Bugrana Panchayats in Tehsil Drabshalla of district Kishtwar today. During his visit, he urged the government to clear the pending financial liabilities under various schemes, emphasizing the severe impact on local residents.
Former Minister highlighted the plight of numerous beneficiaries who have completed their houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) but have only received the second installment of the promised funds, despite waiting for three years. This delay has caused significant suffering for the affected families.
Saroori also brought attention to the unpaid wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for unskilled labourers. He noted that the liabilities related to Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) under the Swachh Bharat Mission remain unsettled.
Despite the Rural Development Department having prepared and uploaded the necessary documents last year, no payments have been made to the beneficiaries, which Saroori described as a grave concern.
The formerMinister made a fervent appeal to the Lieutenant Governor to personally review the functioning of the Rural Development Department to ensure the immediate settlement of the liabilities owed to the poor beneficiaries.
During his tour, Saroori, accompanied by local leaders, also visited several households to offer personal condolences to the families of the deceased.
