JAMMU, July 23: Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, branch Akhnoor, organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan Akhnoor.
People from all age groups, including handicapped, participated enthusiastically in the camp, which was inaugurated by Sarita Chauhan, Chairperson J&K Services Selection Board. 90 units of blood was donated by the volunteers during the camp.
Sarita Chauhan appreciated the continued efforts of Sant Nirankari Mission in emphasizing the values of Oneness and Humanity, through supreme donation of Blood by a human for the other humans, irrespective of differences of religion, caste, color and region, which is the basis of establishment of humanity and peace in the world.
Ajit Singh, zonal incharge, highlighted the message and activities of the Mission in charitable activities besides spiritual attainment.
Sansar Chand, Sanyojak branch Akhnoor, presented the vote of thanks.
Other dignitaries, present on the occasion, included B R Lachotra (Ex Director General Planning and Finance), Dr Lubna from Blood Bank GMC Jammu, Dr Sanjeev Sharma, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Sushil Sharma from Viklang Trust Akhnoor, Dr Tilak Raj, Chuni Lal, Ram Mehta and several prominent citizens of the town.
Earlier yesterday, blood donation awareness bike rally was also held in the town, which was welcomed by the Brahman Sabha and Main Market Association Akhnoor and all the society members.
The camp was held in collaboration with Blood & Transfusion Department of Government Medical College Jammu, Indian Red Cross Society and JKSACS.
