JAMMU, Jan 17: Sanskrit scholars of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust have appealed the Governor to open Sanskrit Department in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University so that they may continue their higher studies and research work.
The demand was raised during a debate on the lacking of growth and development of Sanskrit language in the State.
The participating scholars raised a number of questions on the casual attitude of the Government toward the Sanskrit language and its development. “The scholars and teachers working in the field of Sanskrit language don’t get enough opportunities and exposure to enhance their knowledge and make more sincere effort in this field. Due to this many parents don’t encourage their children to opt for such a carrier and try to look for a secure future which the Sanskrit is lacking now a days”, they explained and appealed the Governor N N Vohra to open a Sanskrit Department in SMVDU.
On this occasion Mahant Rohit Shastri, Pt Dev Dutt Shastri, Pt Rajinder Shastri, Pt Shakti Raina and other Sanskrit scholars were present.
