JAMMU, Jan 2: The State chairperson of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth), Dr Sapna K Sangra has been nominated to its national executive body for a period of three years beginning 2019.
The decision to this effect was taken at the General Body Meeting of the Society held recently at New Delhi. Dr Sangra has revived SPIC MACAY activities in J&K and the ambit of the activities has spread beyond Jammu to Kashmir and Ladakh equally. SPIC MACAY’s partner institutions in the State include IIT Jammu, NIT Kashmir, State Universities, Sainik School, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Army Schools and other private schools.
Run by volunteers, SPIC MACAY has been organizing events related to classical music and dance, folk art, crafts etc through a worldwide network of Government and private schools, colleges and other educational institutions since 1977.
