Samwad stages play ‘Komal Gandhar’

JAMMU, Oct 20: Samwad Theatre Group, Chandigarh here today staged Shankar Shesh’s acclaimed play ‘Komal Gandhar’ as eighth production in the ongoing Rangleela Natya Utsav-2019.
‘Komal Gandhar’ is the foundation of Mahabharta. This drama has focused on the sensitive issues like empowerment of women, misuse of power and politics. The play begins with Gandhari’s journey where she is coming from Gandhar to marry Prince Dhritrashtra of Hastinapur.
She is not aware that she is marrying a blind person. Her brother Shakuni also accompanies her to Hastinapur. After Gandhari realizes that Dhritarashtra cannot see and she has been used as pawn in the game of politics, she determines to revenge by blindfolding her eyes forever.
Artists who performed in the play were Jyoti Bhardwaj, Sachin Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, Heera Singh, Mayank Singh and Diksha Sharma.
