UDHAMPUR, June 4: The dead body of a full grown Sambar deer was found in the channel of Chenani Hydro-electric project today.
Reports said an information was received regarding sighting of a drowned Sambar deer (Rusa Unicolor) near Kawa village in the concrete channel of Chenani Hydroelectric Project.
The team from Control Room Tandey, Udhampur was dispatched along with all necessary gears and equipment to the spot. It appeared that deer was drowned and reached floating near the dam of Chenani power project. After long efforts the dead body was fished out from the channel. No injury marks were found visible on the body.
The carcass was then shifted mechanically to Tandey Deer Park for postmortem/autopsy and further disposal as per WLD protocol. It was concluded that death was caused due to drowning.
