SAMBA, May 28:  Police today arrested both the accused involved in a shoot-out in Samba district and seized the weapon of offence.
“Different teams were constituted to arrest the accused persons involved in last night shootout at Ramgarh village of Vijaypur in Samba district,”  SSP Samba, Anil Magotra told Excelsior.
The raids were conducted at various hideouts and both the people identified as Vikas alias Khatta, resident of Resham Ghar Colony, Jammu and Munish Kumar alias Munshi, resident of Dogra Hall, Jammu were apprehended this afternoon, he added.
The SSP said “they had attacked one Pardeep Singh alias Tony, resident of Vijaypur in broad day light yesterday with sharp edged weapons and later fired him thus injuring him critically,”.
However, a case under relevant sections has been registered and investigations started.
Meanwhile, a protest demonstration was held at Vijaypur against the yesterday’s shootout with hundreds of people taking to streets and also blocking the Vijaypur -Ramgarh road for entire day. The public transport on this route remained suspended as the transporters also observed a total strike. The protestors led by family members of the victim and Congress leader and former Minister, Manjit Singh also blocked the Jammu- Pathankot National Highway at Vijaypur for one hour in the morning.
The shopkeepers also downed the shutters of their business establishments during the period of protest in the town.
Addressing the protestors Manjit Singh demanded that the mastermind behind the attack be arrested. He said the broad day light attack on an agent of the Ramgarh route buses has created panic in the area and people feel totally insecure. The Government should take appropriate steps in maintaining law and order failing which the people will launch agitation, he added.
The wife of Tony also participated in the protest demanding unearthing of the conspiracy to eliminate her husband.
