Samba police rescues 25 bovines, arrests smuggler

SAMBA, Nov 15: District Police Samba foiled two consecutive attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 25 animals in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
Police said a team of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka point NHW Tapyal, intercepted a Mahindra Bolero pickup bearing Registration Number PB07BW/5614 for checking.
During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found laden inside it and they were tied in a cruel manner.
In this connection, a case FIR No 163/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly, a police party of PS Ghagwal rescued 20 more bovines at Naka Tapyal, Ghagwal which were being transported illegally in a Truck bearing Registration Number, JK19/0062.
The accused driver namely Surjeet Kumar son of Sat Pal of Tanda tehsil R S Pura, district Jammu was arrested.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 164/2022
U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
All the bovines rescued in these two incidents were shifted to safer place and vehicles used for transportation were also seized.
