Samba police foils bovine smuggling bid

SAMBA, Apr 18: A bovine smuggling bid was foiled by Samba Police after rescuing 13 bovine animals which were being smuggled in Purmandal area today.
A Police party of Police Station Purmandal intercepted the Gujjars at village Sangar in Purmandal area who were illegally smuggling the bovine animals in the guise of seasonal migration. It rescued 13 bovine animals including 10 cows, two calves and one buffalo from the spot besides arresting three ladies namely  Sharifa Bibi D/o Mustaq Ahmed,  Fatima Bibi W/o Sharif and Jaitoon W/o Mustaq, all residents of Kokarnag, District Anantnag, A/P Sora, Utterbehni, police said. However, two bovine smugglers namely Mustaq Ahmed S/o Makhan Din and  Sharif Ahmed S/o Javed Ahmed, both R/o Kokarnag, district Anantnag, A/P Sora, Utterbehni  managed to fled away from the spot. In this regard Case FIR No. 05/2017 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at Police Station Purmandal and investigation started.
The drive against the illegal trafficking of bovine animals was launched on the directives of  Anil Magotra, , SSP Samba. The  police Party of Police Station Purmandal which seized the bovine animals was headed by Inspector Sanjeev Kumar SHO P/S Purmandal under the supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana.
