SAMBA, Apr 23: Samba police has achieved a major success against bovine smuggling in the district, foiled four major bovine smuggling attempts in the last 24 hours, arrested two bovine smugglers, rescued 77 bovines and seized two vehicles in the jurisdiction of Police Sub-Division, Samba.
An official said a police party of Police Post (PP) Mansar headed by in charge Police Post (PP) Mansar during vehicle checking at Naka Mansar, intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number JK02BQ-9787 for its checking. During checking of the vehicle 22 bovines were found laden inside it and were being transported illegally.
The bovine smugglers identified as Rafaqat Ali, son of Mohammed Akbar of Larnoo district Anantnag and Imtiayaz Ahmed, son of Saraj Din of Lower Munda district Anantnag have been arrested, official said.
He said a case FIR No.109/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started,.
Official said in the second incident of bovine smuggling in the jurisdiction of Police Post (PP) Mansar, a police party of Mansar rescued 18 bovines which were being smuggled by foot via Mansar-Surinsar road. Police team chased the bovine smugglers but they successful in escaping while taking advantage of the darkness.
A case FIR No.110/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started, official added.
In another case a police party of Police Post (PP) Goran headed by in charge PP Goran has foiled bovine smuggling attempt near Dhalote area and rescued 33 bovines which were being smuggled by foot towards Udhampur side. All the bovine smugglers managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.
The official said a case FIR No.111/2024 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Sambaand investigation started.
He said a police party of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SHO PS Ghagwal during vehicle checking at NHW naka Tapyal intercepted a Mahindra Pickup without Registration Number for its checking. During checking of the vehicle, four bovines were found laden inside it and were being transported illegally.
A case FIR No.53/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started, he added.
