SAMBA, Oct 11:District Police Samba achieved major success after arresting one hardcore criminal and bovine smuggler namely Abdul Rashid S/o Mureed Baksh, R/o Manohar Gopala, tehsil and district Samba from Damhal Hanjipora, in South Kashmir district of Kulgam today.
According to SSP Samba, Anil Mangotra, Rashid owning to his criminal activities had created deep wedge between the two communities and was frequently indulging in the offences U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act. and 66/192/177/156/181 MV Act for which a number of FIRs stand registered against him in different police stations of district Samba as well as other adjoining districts and he was challaned in the different courts of law also. The criminal had created a great network with the bovine smugglers of the Valley as well as with those operating in other regions of the State, SSP added.
SSP said in the recent past, Rashid had started indulging in the offences U/S 382/147/323/ 342/ RPC as illustrated in a case wherein his two associates asked one person namely Mushtaq Ahmed S/o Yasin Sheikh R/o Parnot district Ramban (Taxi Owner) who was standing at Narwal Adda on May 1 this year in connection with repairs of his vehicle to drop them at Basanter road Supwal. The driver agreed and the two of them sat on his vehicle (Taxi) and other went back on the bike. Soon after reaching near Basanter river, Samba some persons already standing there stopped the vehicle and started thrashing the taxi owner and decamped with his vehicle, mobile phone and wallet, SSP Mangotra added.
He said In this regard case FIR No. 89/2017 under relevant sections of the law was registered at P/S Samba. These activities of the criminal created a panic in the area besides the matter was also highlighted in the print and electronic media for a longer period.
SSP Samba said owing to these repeated activities of the criminal, PSA warrant was got issued against him by District Magistrate Samba and every possible effort was made by district Police Samba for his arrest. He was evading the arrest since the commission of offence U/S 382/RPC in case FIR No.89/2017 of P/S Samba, Mangotra added.
He said however, after hectic efforts and after developing specific information, the criminal was detained in Police Station Damhal Hanjipora of District Kulgam (Kashmir) where from he was brought and lodged in Sub-District Jail Hiranagar today and in this manner the PSA warrant against him was executed.
