JAMMU, Mar 4: Bandeep Singh’s power-packed 54 runs and 3 important wickets helped New Challengers Cricket Club to defeat Shine Cricket Club and advance into the next round of the ongoing Salute & Tribute to Siachen Martyrs T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Parade Sports Association at Parade ground, here.
Batting first, New Challengers scored a decent total of 179 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Bandeep Singh played a brilliant innings of 54 runs, while Gourav Khajuria contributed valuable 25 runs. Ashu and Manjeet Singh also scored 23 runs each, while Pardeep Bali chipped in with 14 runs. For Shine Cricket Club, Hardeep was the pick of the bowlers, who took 5 important wickets, while Abhshant and Hoshiyar claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Shine Cricket Club managed to score 156 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by a margin of 24 runs. Abhishant top scored with 39 runs, while Hardeep, Jagandeep and Micky contributed 18, 15 and 14 runs to the total respectively. For New Challengers Club, Bandeep Singh took 3 wickets, while Pardeep Bali bagged 2 wickets. Sumit Singh, Ashu and Rahul shared one wicket apiece. Bandeep Singh was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round show.
