SRINAGAR, Feb 5: The J&K Youth National Conference president Salman Ali Sagar today called for upgrading the basic civic amenities in Srinagar and ensuring sustained improvements in quality of services to the people.
The NC leader said the need of the hour is to have an effective drainage system integrated with city development. He said the most pressing issue Srinagar was facing is the ever expanding space for its urban population and also augment the existing infrastructure of the city.
Salwan further said that the anticipated change should be sustainable as per the needs of inhabitants of the city. “The anticipated urban awakening of Srinagar should be marked by ensuring long term and short term plans to deal with storm water drainage. The situation of the drainage network is appalling across the city and the situation in Solina locality is no different,” he added.
During his visit to a City locality, the locals while interacting expressed satisfaction over the rapid action taken by him to tackle the snow aftermath and mitigation of other exigencies which had surfaced post snowfall across the ward. He said Srinagar needs investment in drainage, lighting, urban forestry, sewage water treatment and solid waste disposal. He alleged that successive regimes post 2015 were failed to keep up the good work initiated by the then NC led Government.
