SRINAGAR, July 4: Jammu and Kashmir Youth National Conference provincial president Salman Ali Sagar today said that the youth of Kashmir are looking up to National Conference to formulate an efficient policy framework to cater to the concerns of the youth.
Party’s YNC provincial president while addressing Youth functionaries meeting here at the party office said, ” The ambivalent attitude of the incumbent administration towards the youth issues is of great concern to every right thinking person. Today the youth of Kashmir don’t share any sense of belonging towards the government. While the fact remains that youth of any society is one of the primary stakeholders in the process of national building”.
He said the disenchantment among the youth is the direct consequence of the former BJP-PDP’s imprudent policies. Unfortunately the generation that stepped into their teens after 2015 didn’t see any positives. He said the alienation that has beset the new generation is increasing day by day in absence of a well thought-out employment policy, skill development and entrepreneurship initiatives. Both the Central and former State Government have failed to come up with an effective youth oriented scheme.
Salman said the aspirations of the youth of Kashmir are no different than their counter parts living elsewhere in the country and that the need of the hour demanded to channelize their potential, which he said was not being done.
He said the sheer nepotism and corruption as was rife during the former BJP-PDP Government has disenfranchised the youth to its core. However the Governor administration proved equally inefficient to rise up to the expectations of the youth.
While exhorting the YNC functionaries to amplify their engagement with the youth he said, “Youth of our state hold the key to development. The idea of development and peace is not possible without taking the youth on board.”
