JAMMU, May 28: Salal Power Station organized an awareness program at Panchayat Ghar in Bidda village here to aware the inhabitants of village about the harmful effects of polythene on human health as well as on environment.
A large number of people including officers from NHPC Limited and ladies of village Bidda participated in the program.
On the occasion, jute bags were distributed among the gathering and a few dustbins were also installed in the Village.
Speaking on the occasion, Seraphina Lakra, DGM (HR), Dr Dheeraj Sharma, Senior DCMO and Anitha Roy, Manager (Environment) briefed the gathering about the ill effects of polythene, not only human health and environment but on the cattle and wildlife also.
NHPC Officers apprised the gathering that use of polythene may result in many health hazards like cancers, skin problems, lungs problems whereas plastics causes serious environment pollutions like soil pollution, water pollution and air pollution.
