SRINAGAR, May 22: Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo and Minister of State for Technical Education and Information, Vikar Rasool Wani today jointly inaugurated Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at village Khori Batapora of Kulgam district.
The ITI constructed at a cost of Rs. 4.50 crore is spread over 17 kanals of land with 4 block having 25 rooms which include Principal’s office, dispensary, class rooms, multipurpose hall and workshops for the various ITI courses to be taught in the institute.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Ms. Sakina said that Government is making all out efforts for developing skill in different trades among youth to overcome the menace of unemployment. She said that various ITI and Polytechnics have been opened in the State for the benefit of the educated youth, adding that opening of ITI at village Khori Batapora is also a step in this regards.
Reiterating the commitment of Government for extending basic amenities to the people of remote and far-off areas of the State, Vikar Rasool said that various Centrally sponsored welfares schemes are also underway for improving their socio-economic conditions.
Vikar said that with the opening of this ITI, the number of ITIs goes to 54, adding 18 Polytechnics are already functioning in the State with 623 units providing training facilities in different trades to enthusiastic.
The Minister said that with the growing demand of skilled manpower on global level, the Government is giving special focus on technical education and accordingly as many as 37 ITIs are being upgraded for 15,000 students both boys and girls of the State under PMRP.
The Minister also highlighted the signature of RTI, PSGA and SKEWPY.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam Jehangir Mir, Director, Technical Education S. Jaipal Singh and other senior officers of district administration were also present on the occasion.
