Sakina for nurturing youth in right direction

DH PORA, Sept 28: Addressing a huge gathering of Panchs, Sarpanchs ,senior citizens,Village Education Committee members, large section of students, teaching community, the Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo said that education is pivotal for brining economic transformation of the society.
This was stated by the Minister at a 3-day Residential Mobilisation and Rehabilitation programme organised by Zonal Education Office, Damhal Hanji Pora, in District Kulgam.
Highlighting the main aim and objective of organising such kind of mobilization programme about mobilisation of the locals, the Minister said that it will invoke spirit of community participation in the implementation of educational programme to ensure 100 percent universalization of child education.
Ms Sakina said the community mobilisation and rehabilitation programmes are the major components of the SSA, adding that besides responsibility of the teachers fraternity, the parents have duty to look after their children and ensure their best education.   She said the Senior citizens should also share their responsibilities with school administration for solving the problems facing the students. She said the village education committee have to help the Education Department in identification of land where it is required, for the construction of school buildings.
The Minister said that the credit of opening 22 degree colleges and opening of new schools, besides construction of number of new school buildings goes to present government led by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is keen in spreading the education to every corner of the State.
Ms Sakina sought the cooperation of the youth for developing DH Pora constituency as a model constituency and making the district Kulgam 100 percent literate under SSA scheme.
The Minister also appealed the people especially the senior citizens and Panchayat members, prominent personalities to keep a vigil on the activities of the youth in their surrounding areas so that they are prevented from including like drug addiction, which is a big menace eating the vitals of the society.
District Development Commissioner, Kulgam Jahangir Mir, Additional District Development Commissioner, Deputy CEO, Principals, ZEOs and other district officers were present on the occasion.
