Sajjad Shaheen conducts tour of Neel area

BANIHAL, July 4: National Conference leader and District President Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen today expressed grave concern over erratic power supply and lack of health care facilities in far-off areas of the Banihal Assembly constituency.
During his day long extensive on foot tour to various villages in Neel area, Shaheen interacted with the local people. He lamented that the far flung areas have become a byword of widespread and inescapable poverty, unemployment and development deficit. He also said that the incumbent dispensation has made no efforts to alleviate the concerns of the people of J&K.
Shaheen visited several villages that include Drupta, Harwari, Zamnag, Sinigam, Halla, Parhinder, Naginder, Madnihal, Nilhal, Vasamarg and Chidwas and during interaction in these villages, the people complained about scarcity of drinking water for several weeks.
He said the road network is also in a dilapidated condition that has impacted the mobility and added to the miseries of the people. He particularly referred to the bad shape of the Chamalwas – Neel road, saying no effort is being made to improve and upgrade it. The District President urged the R&B Department for taking up restoration and upgradation works on immediate bases.
Shaheen also drew attention of the Government towards deficiencies in education and health sectors and sought immediate filling up of vacant posts as also stocking of adequate quantity of medicines in the health institutions.
He strongly demanded setting up of a Higher Secondary School in Parhinder, Neel as hundreds of students from Parhinder and its vicinity have to travel long distance on foot to reach the only higher secondary school situated in Battoo which caters population of more than 25 thousands habitation.
He said complaints about defunct utility services have also been received from Khari-Trigam-Mahoo, Pogal-Paristan, Sumar, Sarachi, Amkote-Thachi, Hijhal, Nowgam, Bajmasta, Chaka, Sarbagni, Bingara, Kumbla, Phagow, Maligam, Chaknarwah, Sumar and other areas.
Later in the day, Shaheen also visited the families of two young boys Riyaz Ah Naik of Sinigam and Haris Shakil Sohil of Hala who had recently died in two separate incidents and offered condolences with their families.
Mohd Sadiq Naik, Ghulam Rasool Deng, Musharraf Ahmed Naik, Mohd Ashraf Koka, Mashkoor Ahmed Draboo, Molvi Zulfiqar Ahmed and others accompanied the District President during his tour.
