Sahitya Akademi’s ‘Mulakat’ provides platform to young talent in Dogri

JAMMU, Aug 31: Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, the national Academy of Letters, provided an opportunity to young and upcoming Dogri writers and poets to share their works with invited audience during its program ‘Mulakat’, held at K L Saigal Hall, here today.
In the literary program designed to encourage young and aspiring poets and writers, the upcoming short story writers and poets who shared their literary creations included upcoming short story writers Rajeshwar Singh Raju and Sunita Bhadwal. While the poets who read their poems on the occasion included Deepak Arsi and Joginder Kumar Sharma.
Another highlight of the function was release of nine new Dogri publications by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. The new books released by Saujanya Sharma, Director Tourism, Jammu, included Om Goswami’s ‘Azadi Praint Di Dogri Kavita’, Prakash Premi’s Dogri translation of N Gopi’s poetry, ‘Samey Gi Nain Soun Daing’, Dogri Geet and Dogri Ekanki by Inder Jeet Kesar, Usha Vyas’s Dogri Translation of Bhisham Sahni’s anthology of Hindi short stories, Vijya Thakur’s translation of Arun Kamal’s Hindi poetry, Gyan Singh’s anthology of 36 Dogri Women short story writers and Cchatrpal’s ‘Kinne Pakistan’, the Dogri translation of Kamelshwar’s acclaimed novel ‘Kitne Pakistan’ .
Speaking on the occasion Prof Lalit Magotra, the new convener of the Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, said that it is a matter of satisfaction that nine new released Dogri publications include translations of highly acclaimed works of other Indian languages. Such works bring the literature of one language to readers of another and act as a bridge between languages.
Shantanu Gangopadhaya, Assistant Editor, Sahitya Akademi, welcomed the audience and emphasized the importance of ‘Mulakat’, which is held in all languages recognized by Sahitya Akademi and has helped in launching of many a young talent on the national scene.
Earlier in the day, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, has also organized a special Children Literature program at JRC Home for Handicap, Udheywala, Jammu in which more than 80 children sat face to face with prominent Dogri writer and poets like Prof Shashi Pathania and Vijay Sahrma, and not only listened to their short stories and poems but also recited their own poems.
