Sahitya Akademi organizes seminar on Dogri literature

JAMMU, Jan 23: Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, in continuation to its ‘Webline Literature Series’, organized a seminar on Humanism & Cosmopolitanism in Dogri Literature through virtual mode.
The seminar was divided into two sessions. The first session was based upon ‘Humanism & Cosmopolitanism in Dogri Shorty Story & Drama in 20th & 21st centuries. The session was chaired by eminent Dogri writer Mohan Singh. On ‘ Humanism & Cosmopolitanism in Dogri Shorty Story, the papers were read by Dogri writers Jagdeep Dubey, Raj Rahi and Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ whereas on ‘ Humanism & Cosmopolitanism in Dogri Drama, the papers were read by theatre activist Sudhir Mahajan and Dogri writer Ashok Khajuria.
In the second session, which was based upon ‘Humanism & Cosmopolitanism in Dogri Kavya Sahitya & Novel, the papers were read by Vijay Verma, Rajinder Ranjha, Tarsem Raina and Heena Choudhary. The session was chaired by eminent Dogri writer Shivdev Susheel.
Earlier, in the inaugural session, K Sreenivasarao, Secretary Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, said that Dogri literature is very rich as the writers have been contributing immensely in every field of literature. Dogri has produced literature that may rank among the best literature in any language, he added.
In his introductory remarks, Darshan Darshi, Convener Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, was of the opinion that it was in fact a thought provoking topic that needed to be explored through research works by the prolific writers and he was happy that Sahitya Akademi selected the real talents to get the job done.
In his keynote address, noted writer Gian Singh gave detailed account of the inputs in Dogri literature regarding Humanism & Cosmopolitanism. The online seminar was presided over by eminent Dogri writer Jatinder Udhampuri, who in his presidential address, said that Dogri writers need to concentrate more on the global issues like terrorism, war threats etc.
The seminar concluded with vote of thanks by N Suresh Babu, Deputy Secretary, Sahitya Akademi who conducted the proceedings also. The seminar was attended by thousands from across the world on youtube live channel of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
