SRINAGAR, Sept 20: Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar today visited the Civil Secretariat and took a meeting with the senior level officials of the department and received brief about the status of assets of the department in the aftermath of recent floods.
Mr Sagar asked the departmental functionaries to conduct a detailed survey of the damages to the Rural Development Department assests and submit the report by Wednesday- so that the case is taken up for appropriate action.
He asked the officers to extend the benefits of various schemes like IAY, MGNREGA,NBA etc to as many people as possible and utilize funds for the benefit of the people in this hour of crisis. He said immediate steps should be taken to repair and restore the utilities, community assets in village Panchayats and blocks.
While expressing solidarity with the affected people, Mr Sagar appreciated the efforts of the youth volunteers and other agencies in the relief and rescue operations, adding that their timely intervention saved hundreds of lives and minimised the human sufferings to a large extent.
Calling upon rural development functionaries to extend all help to the flood affectees, Mr Sagar said that State Government has put in the relief and rehabilitation effort in fast mode and every possible resource will be utilised to ensure that normal life and livelihood of people is restored and supported.
