Sagar for speeding up work on Dastigeer Shrine

SRINAGAR, Aug 25: Asking the officers to speed up the work on the revered Dastigeer Sahib (RA) Shrine, the Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the shrine would be completed within the shortest possible time and in consonance with the older architectural patterns.
The Minister was interacting with the officers and people of different localities during his extensive tour of the Srinagar City to personally oversee the execution of various developmental works. Vice Chairman Wakaf Board, M.Y.Qadri, District Development Commissioner, Baseer Ahmed Khan, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation G.N.Qasba, Chief Engineers, R&B, PHE,UEED, MD JKPCC, Additional District Development Commissioners, representative of the State Chapter of INTACH and other senior officers of the various departments accompanied the Minister.
Mr. Sagar asked the Vice Chairman Wakaf Board to personally ensure that the work is started on the new shrine of the Dastigeer Sahib immediately as the religious sentiments of the people of the State are associated  with the same.
The Minister also asked the officers to work in close coordination with the INTACH so that bottle necks if any can be removed and work expedited on a fast track basis.
While reviewing the pace of work on the old ZainaKadal Bridge, the Minister directed JKPCC to ensure that the bridge is completed as soon as possible as the people of the area are facing hardships on account of its non completion. He said that the Government has already undertaken a comprehensive programme for the beautification of the historic Zainakadal and its catchment areas on the heritage pattern so that it forms one of the main attractions of tourism and trade related activities.
Discussing the proposed comprehensive plan for the repair and renovation of the historic Khankha-i-Moula Shrine, the Minister said that it would be undertaken very soon with the active help of INTACH who have already renovated several historical structures in the State. He said that the proper landscaping would also be done on the catchment areas of the shrine and directed the officers to acquire the structures around it by paying the adequate compensation to the people.
Mr. Sagar while inspecting the work being done on the renovation of Khawaja Naqashband Sahab Shrine directed the concerned to speed up the pace of work on it so that it is completed before the ensuing Urs.
Earlier, the Minister accompanied by the Director Rural Development Kashmir visited Shopian and inspected the pace of work being done on the Model Village being constructed at village Manloo.
