Sagar conducts Awami Rabta tour of Pulwama

SRINAGAR, June 24: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Ali Mohammad Sagar today conducted an extensive tour of Pulwama district to oversee the implementation of various flagship schemes, besides conducting Awami Darbar at different places across the district.
The Minister while interacting with scores of deputations across the district directed the officers to ensure that the pace of various developmental works undertaken by the Government is speeded up so that the people get benefits from these. He also appealed the people to actively involve themselves in implementation of these welfare schemes so that an effective feedback is received about the same and need based and holistic development of these areas is ensured.
Mr. Sagar said that the people should understand that the present government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has right from day first focussed on holistic and comprehensive development of the State and now certain parties in a state of frustration have started a campaign against  the same. He said people should understand that such people have always preferred their personal interests over those of state and have been responsible for inflicting miseries on its people.
Referring to Panchayat elections and putting in place a vibrant Panchayati Raj system, the Minister said that by empowering the same we have ensured that the democratic decentralisation of powers takes place and people at grass root level are involved in policy formulation and implementation besides day to day governance. He said in order to oversee that the powers are being decentralisation in proper way a senior level officer has been appointed for the purpose.
The Minister also directed the officers to take up various play fields under MGNERGA besides construction of various sanitary points under Nirmal Bharat Abihyan.
The Minister was accompanied by the Director Rural Development Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmed and other senior officers of the department.
