SRINAGAR, Oct 3: Asking the separatists to shun the tendency of negative politics, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that they have always believed in opposing the good initiatives undertaken by the Government in socio-political and other spheres of life.
The Minister was addressing a huge gathering during his Awami Rabita campaign at Wanihama, Hadoora in the Ganderbal district today.
District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Sarmad Hafiez, Director Rural Development, Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmad and other senior officers of various departments besides Panchs, Sarpanchs were also present.
Mr Sagar said that the separatists should not always go on criticizing the Government on the various initiatives undertaken by the Government for uplifting the socio-economic profile of the people, besides the other ones taken in the political sphere. “It is strange that their one point agenda is to criticize the Government, inspite of the various measures taken by us in the various realms of life be it political, social, economical. This trend of negative politics and thought should be avoided”, he asserted.
The Minister said that the present Government has always believed in allowing the flourishing of democracy in the State and the step of ensuring the decentralization of powers to the grass root level by empowering the Panchs and Sarpanchs with the powers of 14 vital departments speaks a lot about its motives. He said, “we believe in translating our words into actions rather than the other political party, which has always misled the people for its petty political interests by spreading lies and canards”.
While asking the people to come forward and avail maximum benefits of the various welfare programmes undertaken by the Government, the Minister said that by doing so they would be exhibiting a participatory role in their implementation, which is very essential in a democratic setup. He said that we have launched several schemes which have been instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the people living in the State.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister directed the officers to start the transport service from Hadoora to Srinagar, besides taking up the work on lanes, drains, desilting of the water bodies and other related developmental works.
