Safety of senior citizens

Sir,
The present traffic scenario is highly risky for the senior citizens while travelling in public transport Or walking on the roads. Rarely we find footpaths on the roads and if available are  encroached by the shopkeepers. No  seats are reserved for the senior citizens. Being frail, weak and with poor reflexes they can meet with any exigencies while on the roads. The Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens, a registered N.G.O., is pursuing such matters with the concerned authorities but with little response.
With the increased life expectancy and change in work culture younger generation has moved out of the state for better avwnues of career leaving behind their old parents. They do visit their children only when they are in need  of their parents. We find no. of colonies turning into Old Age Homes.
Inviting skilled labour such as plumber, electrician, painter at home while the  they are alone  is prone to any crime as has happened a number of times. The association met I.G.P. and explained difficulties being felt by the senior citizens. and requested him to issue an advisory to various S.H.O. to register such families for their watch on priority He was also requested to advise the police men on road duty to  help the old to cross the road. The association proposed to the I.G.P. to conduct public police meet at various places to listen the problems of people in general and the senior citizens in particular. No headway seems to have been made.
Senior Citizens who have devoted their prime life in the service of Govt. and the society need full protection in the fag end of their life.
Yours etc…
