Safaikaramcharis end fast unto death

JAMMU, Aug 8: Following an assurance by the Director Health Services Jammu, the consolidated Safaikaramcharis of the Directorate today ended their five-day long fast unto death.
The protesting Safaikaramcharis were demanded regularization of their services and release of wages, which have been pending for the last about two years.
Those sitting on fast unto death were Abdul Gani, Ashok Kumar, Mohd Kabir and Mohd Iqbal.
Today on fifth day of the fast, condition of the protesting employees further deteriorated following which Director Health Service Baljeet Singh Pathania reached the site and assured that the pending wages would be released by Monday next. He also assured to take up the issue of their regularization with the higher authorities.
Following the assurance, the protesting Safaikaramcharis ended their fast unto death and president of Medical Employees Federation, Sushil Sudan offered them juice.
As condition of the protesting employees was not well even after end of their fast, they were taken to hospital for the treatment.
